Strong relationships are built - not left to chance.

You’ve built a remarkable life together

Between the milestones of your careers and the rhythm of your busy days, you’ve achieved more than most ever dream of. But lately, when the house is quiet—whether because the kids have grown or because it’s always just been the two of you—the space between you feels wider than it used to.

One day, you’re the perfect team, navigating life with ease. Next, a small misunderstanding spirals into a week of cold silence or weary arguments. You’re exhausted from holding it all together and scared that the warmth you once shared is being replaced by a polite, lonely coexistence.

Your relationship is your most precious asset

For overperformers, sometimes the most challenging place to be is with ourselves and in relationships. No matter how much we win at the office, we keep flunking at home. This takes toll on your psyche and soul.

What feels like a problem without a solution can soon become your shelter from the storm.

You don’t have to do this alone

I offer a soft place to land. My personalized approach is designed for couples like you—partners who have mastered the world outside, but need a gentle, expert hand to help them navigate the world within.

If you’ve walked into a therapist’s office before and felt like just another number, or left feeling unheard, it’s natural to feel protective of your hope. But please know: The spark that started this journey hasn't gone out; it’s just buried under the weight of a high-pressure life.

From your therapist, Susan Barker

I invite you to reconsider the negative narrative you’ve carried about one another and, more importantly, what is possible in relationship therapy.

As a solo practitioner serving partners and individuals in Idaho, Georgia, and South Carolina, I provide a telehealth-exclusive sanctuary that respects your privacy and your schedule. I value your relationship too much to let you simply sit on a screen and replay the same destructive arguments. Rather than watching from the sidelines or pointing fingers, I take an active role in dismantling the barriers between you and helping you design a blueprint for your partnership’s restoration.

I believe your relationship is the most significant investment of your life. It is the clearest reflection of your greatest strengths and your deepest vulnerabilities, with the power to stabilize every other area of your world—from your professional legacy to your family’s future.

With this foundational belief, we can do the serious work together.

What to Expect

A Private Virtual Sanctuary

I provide a discreet, warm, and fully remote space where you can drop the professional mask and simply be two people who love each other. From the convenience of your own private setting, you will receive the dedicated, one-on-one attention of a single specialized therapist who understands the complexities of the discerning partners.

You’ve spent your life taking care of everyone and everything else. It is okay to let someone take care of the two of you now. Let’s turn the volume down on the conflict and turn it up on the connection.

My role is not to be a silent judge or to take sides. I am a fierce advocate for the relationship itself. If I see a behavior that is sabotaging your bond, I will point it out directly and provide you with a specific, evidence-based tool to replace it. You get my honest, expert perspective in every session.

The Value of an Intentional Timeline

For high-achieving partners in Boise, Georgia, and South Carolina, success is rarely accidental. A relationship that serves as your greatest source of strength requires the same level of intentionality as a board-level strategy.

As a solo practitioner, I work with a limited number of partners to ensure that your partnership receives my full, focused expertise. I do not offer quick fixes that fail under pressure; instead, I provide a dedicated, weekly path toward a fundamental restoration of your bond.

While everyone’s path is unique, deep-seated change takes time to solidify. Weekly sessions for 6 months will provide the time to reinforce the learning and tools you gain in therapy. We are undoing years of hurt, anger, and isolation. Weekly sessions for 12 months are specifically designed for complex cases where the stakes are highest, including:

  • Restoring Trust: Healing from significant, long-term betrayals, trauma, or the aftermath of an affair.

  • Breaking Gridlock: Resolving years of entrenched internal or external conflict and communication breakdowns.

  • Healing Personal History: Navigating how childhood trauma for one or both partners is currently impacting the marriage.

  • Rebuilding the Foundation: Strengthening trust when parallel lives have been lived for too long.

By meeting weekly, we maintain the momentum necessary to ensure these shifts aren't just temporary improvements, but a permanent evolution of your legacy.
